Rules & Conditions of membership
Every member must abide by these rules
1
Dojo etiquette must always be followed, including bowing when entering and exiting the dojo, and refraining from swearing in any language.
Respect must be shown to instructors, visiting sensei, and fellow members, regardless of grade.
3
Members train at their own risk. The instructors and committee will not accept liability for any injuries sustained whilst training (see Club Rules and Policies).
5
The Instructor leading each class will determine when breaks are needed. Students are not permitted to leave the dojo except during breaks, unless there is an emergency.
7
Phones should be set to silent mode before entering the dojo.
The use of phones during a class is strictly prohibited unless otherwise stated by the Instructor leading the session.
9
Members should ensure their dogi is clean and ironed. Students may choose to wear plain white (or black, depending on the color of their dogi) t-shirts underneath their dogi if desired.
Grading attire is strictly limited to a clean, pressed, white dogi with badge firmly attached.
2
Any member engaging in unnecessary violence or using offensive language towards another club member, or exhibits otherwise inappropriate behaviour that may bring dishonour to the principles and ideals of SHINBOKU and martial arts, shall have their membership revoked.
4
Fingernails and toenails should be regularly trimmed and kept short to avoid causing injury to others. Additionally, all jewelry, watches, pins, and other sharp or potentially hazardous accessories must be removed or secured and made blunt before each training session, without exception.
6
Smoking and eating are not permitted in the dojo.
Students are allowed to drink only during class breaks, unless required for health reasons.
8
Members are encouraged to arrive at least ten minutes prior to the start of the training session, to allow time for changing. Latecomers should wait at the side of the dojo, seated in seiza, until they receive permission to join the class.
10
Members must attend a minimum of 75% of the training sessions offered to them between gradings to be eligible for grading.
